The Challenge

Forty Winks and Outdoor Elegance operate large showroom spaces at a NSW homemaker shopping centre. High-power demand and electricity supply constraints were placing pressure on operating costs.

The Solution

To address these constraints without requiring expensive network upgrades, Clarence Greenergy installed a behind-the-meter system with a 144 kW rooftop solar array and 80 kWh of battery storage shared across two tenants. The system reduces daytime grid consumption by generating renewable electricity on-site and shifting output to higher-demand periods via the battery. Participating tenants achieved a 45% reduction in daytime electricity costs compared with the grid tariff they would otherwise have paid. Delivered with zero upfront capital cost to tenants and the centre owner, electricity is supplied under a PPA at an agreed rate — a capital-cost-free arrangement, though not a no-cost supply.
