North Shore Marketplace is a convenient, single level shopping centre anchored by a modern Woolworths and a mix of popular specialty retailers, many of whom operate with consistent daytime energy demand and growing exposure to rising electricity costs.
To address these challenges without requiring costly network upgrades or upfront capital investment, Clarence Greenergy delivered a customised behind the meter renewable energy solution featuring a 305 kW rooftop solar system, distributed across 13 individual tenants. The system was designed to maximise onsite energy usage, reducing reliance on grid supplied electricity during peak trading hours. This integrated rooftop solar solution is expected to generate over $30,000 in annual electricity savings for participating tenants, delivering immediate and meaningful financial benefits. Importantly, the entire project was delivered with zero capital outlay for both the landlord and tenants, ensuring a smooth and cost neutral transition to onsite renewable energy. By reducing dependence on the external network, tenants at North Shore Marketplace now benefit from a strong hedge against future electricity price increases and a measurable reduction in their carbon footprint. The project was completed on time and within budget, improving long term operational resilience while supporting more sustainable retail operations.
