Zone Underwood, a well established large format retail centre anchored by Officeworks and Best Friends Pet Store, is home to a range of high energy use tenants operating in a challenging electricity cost environment. Like many retail centres of its type, tenants were exposed to rising energy prices and increasing pressure to manage operational costs and environmental impacts.

To address these challenges, Clarence Greenergy delivered a tailored behind the meter renewable energy solution featuring a 576 kW rooftop solar system, strategically installed across six individual tenants. The system was designed to maximise onsite self consumption, achieving an exceptional 99% consumption rate, ensuring that nearly all generated solar energy was used directly by the tenants. This high efficiency solution is expected to deliver over $10,000 in annual electricity savings, providing immediate and meaningful cost relief for participating tenants. Importantly, the project was delivered with zero capital outlay for both the landlord and tenants, removing financial barriers and enabling a seamless transition to onsite renewable energy. Beyond cost savings, the solar installation provides tenants at Zone Underwood with a strong hedge against future electricity price increases while delivering a measurable reduction in carbon emissions.
